Punta is a traditional dance music of the Garinagu people, descendants of Carib, Arawak and Africans primarily living in the Central American region. The word punta is thought to be a latinization of Bunda (an ancient rhythm) which has origins in West Africa. With lyric usually composed by woman, it is usually performed around holidays and during celebrations and festivals.
