Hip Hop?? Rock & Roll??
What??
Both are popular music genres which both of late have borrowed and contributed to each other.
Hip hop which is more of a lifestyle and movement that influenced and brought forth the musical genre is comprised of 4 elements: emceeing/ rapping, DJing/ scratching, sampling and beatboxing. Hip hop is a fairly young genre (popularized in the 1970s in the other boroughs of NYC) and continues to evolve and borrow from older genres (including rock & roll) and influences fashion, visual art, education to name a few areas that one never thought would be touched by this “street genre”.
Rock & roll, on the other hand, is a genre formulated in the 1950s and is believed to be a hybrid of blues, country, jazz and gospel music styling. Long thought as a rebel music in during its infancy, rock & roll has evolved into sub genres such as heavy metal, grunge rock, alternative rock, emo and punk. Both genres (hip hop and rock & roll) were/ are considered rebel music and both have their own distinct styling and attitude. We at Dushi Trade are forever influenced by music. With this collection, we are showing homage to these two rebel genres and their influence on accessory styling as well as highlighting the women of hip hop and rock & roll, past and present. We know that of late, both genres party together so this is our take on the two.
